Why hydro-jetting is a useful option for clearing blocked drains

Two things are certain in life. One is that you're likely to face an embarrassing moment in front of your crush, and the other is that you're likely to experience a blocked drain in the home. Blocked drains are caused by many different factors, from flushing the wrong items down the toilet to dumping oil or grease down the kitchen sink.

You may be familiar with common drain unclogging techniques such as using a snake or a plunger. However, for more effective results, plumbers use a technique called hydro-jetting. For clogged drains that aren't damaged or broken, hydro-jetting can be used to remove foreign items from within the pipes. During this technique, high-pressure water jets are channelled through the pipe to physically dislodge any blockages that may be present. But why use hydro-jetting over other unclogging options?

1. It cleans and unclogs drains at the same time

Hydro-jetting is a useful technique because it unclogs and cleans the drain at the same time. When using other techniques such as an auger, the auger simply punches a hole in the clog to allow water to pass through. However, the drain is still not clean and is likely to become clogged again. Most unclogging techniques also don't address issues regarding sludge accumulation or the build-up of grease and fats.

With hydro-jetting, you're essentially killing two birds with one stone. The high-pressure jets of water remove blockages and clean the drain at the same time. This means that your pipes are less likely to become blocked in the near future.

2. One of the most effective drain-clearing techniques

Hydro-jetting is a highly efficient technique when clearing a blocked drain. You can identify the specific areas of a pipe that are blocked and direct jets of water to unclog only those portions. As a result, you don't have to dig up pipes in the yard just to get to the blocked area.

In fact, by using a drain inspection camera, plumbers are able to locate blocked portions of a drainage pipe with precision. Hydro-jetting can then be used to unclog those portions and restore the pipe to its proper working order.

3. It is cost-effective in the long run

You may think that an auger or a plunger is a cheaper option, but only for the short term. Hydro-jetting completely removes blockages in your pipes and enables you to save money in the long-run. To avoid repeated problems of blocked drains, consider hydro-jetting your pipes to make them clean and permanently free of blockages and debris.

4. An environmentally-friendly option

Because hydro-jetting uses water rather than chemicals, it is an environmentally-friendly option for unclogging your drains.
